If you want to stop panic attacks, one of the best things you can do is learn how to turn off your mental autopilot.

That might sound like gibberish to you, so let me explain what your "mental autopilot" actually is.

During the day, do you ever catch yourself having thoughts that you would rather not be having? I know I do. In fact, I think this could be said of everyone.

You know the kinds of thoughts I'm talking about.

The damaging daydreams and fantasies and scenarios you play in your head like little movies. Occasionally these will be pleasant thoughts, but a staggering percentage of them are damaging.

If you don't have a problem with panic and anxiety then this probably won't cause you any real problems. But when you really need to stop panic attacks, these undesirable thoughts can be incredibly damaging.

These thoughts start cure anxiety trains of thought, where each thought builds on the one before it, each one of them becoming increasingly more negative and increasingly more likely to start a panic attack.

The great news is, these are very easy to stop.

You stop these thoughts simply by acknowledging them. Remember a moment ago when I asked if you ever catch yourself having these negative or unpleasant thoughts? Well, "catching" yourself having them is the key.

Because catching yourself having them stops them.

These thoughts can only exist when we're distracted and unaware that they're spinning around in our minds. They're like subconscious daydreams.

As soon as we become aware of cure panic attacks we snap natural healing anxiety of it and the thoughts stop.

So one of the best things you can do for yourself if you want to stop panic attacks is to start paying close attention to your thoughts throughout the day. The more often you do this, the more of these undesirable thoughts you'll catch and stop.
